Dear Investor, Supporter, Customer,
Thank you for helping make 2016 such a success for the Speedpak Group!
Trading, Training and Transforming is what we do. The past year has seen a significant increase in activity across our Speedpak contract services division, our Shamrock Rosette manufacturing division and training offering for long term unemployed people.
Our first Enhanced Skills Programme [ESP], developed with investment from JP Morgan Chase Foundation, was completed in 2016 and a second is now in full flow. By mid-2017, 30 people will have successfully completed the programme. The ESP offers participants real, relevant and paid work experience and logistics industry-specific training. The programme provides work related modules accredited at QQI level 4 and 5 along with forklift licence and other relevant certification.
The main goal of the programme – in which mentoring plays a central role – is to create and expand career path and promotion options for our participants. In this sense, it is truly transformative.
“I loved the training. I loved all of it: the theory, the practical parts like the Forklift and the personal development through the coaching. Liz the coach was brilliant. She helped me to see my future plan. She made me realise that any plan has to be part of my life and not some idea so far away that you get disheartened when things don’t happen. It’s so simple really and I thought why didn’t I think of that before?”, Gillian, ESP Course Participant 2016.
We had a great celebration in Speedpak on September 20th when ESP Awards were presented to the 2016 Programme participants by Mr. Richard Bruton T.D., Minister for Education and Skills.
In 2017 we will continue to develop industry partnerships to ensure that the Programme continues to deliver industry-relevant skills and training.
We will also continue to engage with local business as potential recruiters to ensure that the programme delivers training that will match local talent with industry needs.
Collaboration has seen us thrive and our success is a shared one. So a big thank you to all:
- Our investors JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Pobal, the Dormant Accounts Fund, Allergan, Northside Partnership and the Department of Social Protection.
- Our supporters who have given their time and invaluable experience on a pro bono basis to the business.
- Our customers who keep us on our toes and who we strive to serve better every day.
